Rep. Wild and AG Shapiro host health care listening session in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh Valley Congresswoman Susan Wild was in the area hashing out problems with getting local residents more affordable health care.

The Democratic lawmaker and Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro hosted a roundtable discussion Tuesday at Miller Keystone Blood Center in Bethlehem.

They listened to doctors and leaders from Saint Luke's Hospital and Lehigh Valley Hospital talk about their struggles and frustrations, like the need for cheaper health insurance to better support from the federal government.

"Some of the executive actions that have been taken by this administration to reduce the amount of time for open enrollment, to reduce the amount of time, and the funding for patient education about what their health insurance plans provide is really detrimental," Wild said.

Wild says a common concern of many health care providers she meets with are that they mainly want to focus on doctor-patient relationship without having to worry about whether the patient can afford treatment.
