Senate companion legislation led by Sens. John Cornyn and Maggie Hassan passed the chamber last week
Today, U.S. Representative Susan Wild (D-PA) joined with Reps. Michael McCaul (R-TX), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Mary Gay Scanlon (D-PA), Alcee Hastings (D-FL), and Ron Wright (R-TX) to introduce the Jenna Quinn Law, which would allow current grant funds to be used to train and educate students, teachers, caregivers, and other adults who work with children on how to prevent, recognize, and report child sexual abuse. The bill, named for child abuse survivor Jenna Quinn, is a companion to legislation introduced in the Senate by U.S. Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) which passed the chamber last week.

Today, the House passed H.R. 8162, U.S. Representative Susan Wild’s (PA-07) bipartisan bill, the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Coronavirus Relief Act of 2020, to help expand access to child care services through the remainder of the COVID-19 emergency. Introduced by Wild at the beginning of this month, her legislation is intended to aid parents’ return to the workforce and ensure children can continue their learning in an academically supportive environment.

Today, U.S. Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) proudly announced that Lleyton Herb from Pennsylvania’s Seventh District has begun attending the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. While the U.S. Coast Guard does not require a Congressional Nomination as a prerequisite for attendance, Herb underwent a competitive application process to receive a nomination from Wild’s office and has joined the academy’s Class of 2024.
