Today, U.S. Representatives Susan Wild (D-PA), John Curtis (R-UT), Chip Roy (R-TX), Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ), and Dan Meuser (R-PA) released the following statements following the introduction of their new bipartisan bill to amend the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act’s (CARES Act) PPP delivered important tools to temporarily support millions of struggling businesses across the country. With the enhancements in the this new bill, the Paycheck Protection Program Small Business Enhancement Act, small businesses will be able to receive even more aid.

Today, U.S. Representatives Susan Wild (PA-07) and Brett Guthrie (KY-02) introduced the bipartisan Early Educators Apprenticeship Act, legislation to help meet the increasing demand for early childhood educators by supporting and expanding states’ efforts in developing, administering, and evaluating early childhood education apprenticeships. This legislation comes at a critical time, as access to quality, affordable child care will be integral to our nation’s reopening process and economic recovery in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wild’s legislation part of House package to make health care, prescription drugs more affordable
Just days after the Administration called on the Supreme Court to overturn the Affordable Care Act (ACA), U.S. Representative Susan Wild’s (PA-07) Family Health Care Affordability Act passed the House of Representatives as a key component of H.R.1425, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Enhancement Act. Part of the larger ACA stabilization package intended to lower health insurance premiums and the cost of prescription drugs, Wild’s bill strengthens the current health care law and helps expand health care coverage for working families.

Today, U.S. Representative Susan Wild (PA-07), a member of the House Education and Labor Committee, voted to override a Presidential veto of H.J.Res.76 and support students defrauded by predatory colleges. The resolution, passed by both chambers of Congress with strong bipartisan support, would block Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos’ Borrower Defense rule that would deny debt relief for thousands of defrauded students and shield predatory institutions from accountability. The rule is set to go into effect on July 1.

Yesterday, U.S. Representatives Susan Wild (PA-07) and Cheri Bustos (IL-17) introduced the Crisis Care Improvement and Suicide Prevention Act of 2020, legislation that would allow states to upgrade crisis care programs and strategies to meet increased demand in this critical moment. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to exacerbate existing strains, like the opioid crisis, mental health needs in the United States have reached epidemic levels and have only heightened the need for comprehensive crisis services.

This funding will allow CACLV to expand its critical programs to provide immediate community support through the COVID-19 crisis and build the organization’s capacity to reach more low-income families in the region.
