Press Release

LEHIGH VALLEY – On Saturday, June 13, U.S. Representative Susan Wild will host a virtual Military Academy Information Expo for high school students and recent graduates interested in applying to the U.S. military service academies. Representatives from Wild’s staff and the military service academies will be available on the Zoom seminar to field questions from prospective applicants and parents.

Saturday, June 13

WHAT: Rep. Wild to Host Virtual Military Academy Nomination Information Seminar

WHEN: 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

REGISTRATION: Please find the Zoom registration link here.

Wild will be hosting representatives from all service academies – the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy – along with the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DODMERB). This is an excellent opportunity for students grades 9-11 to learn more about the application process and attending one of these elite institutions. Parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to join the seminar, as well.

“It is a great privilege to nominate some of the Lehigh Valley’s best and brightest young people to our nation’s military service academies,” Wild said. “Their interest in serving our country and answering the call of duty, and their dedication at such a young age, is admirable. It is my honor to provide these young leaders an avenue to learn more about these institutions and the full-range of opportunities available to them.”

Four of the five service academies – the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy – require a congressional, vice presidential, or service-connected nomination as part of the application process. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a nomination.

U.S. military service academies are among the most competitive colleges in the nation and provide those who enroll with an excellent education and opportunities for leadership in both military and civilian life.

Applications can be submitted online at https://wild.house.gov/services/military-academy-nominations. For questions, please visit Wild’s website or contact her Allentown office at (484) 781-6000.
