April 30, 2021

Will Expand Office Focus on Veterans and Military Families

Washington - Today, Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) is announcing two new members of her staff who come from fellowships focused on placing veterans and Gold Star families in congressional offices. Patrick Miller comes to the Wild office from HillVets and will serve in the D.C. office, and Maureen Caporaso is a Gold Star Family fellow, and will be based in Pennsylvania.

"As the daughter of an Air Force veteran, taking care of veterans and military families, as well as active-duty military members, is a priority for me and my office." said Rep. Wild. "Patrick and Maureen are already essential members of my team and are helping to ensure that in everything our office does, we keep veterans and military families in mind."

Patrick Miller is an eight-year active-duty Air Force veteran. Originally from Eastern Ohio, Patrick enlisted at 19 and worked as a Nuclear Weapons Team Chief in Albuquerque, New Mexico and in Germany. After he left active duty, he enlisted in the reserves where he still serves today. In addition to his work on Capitol Hill, Patrick is pursuing a master's degree.

Maureen Caporaso is only the third person in the country to be chosen for a Gold Star Family Fellowship with the House of Representatives. She is a Gold Star daughter of USAF Captain Vincent J. Hickman, who was a navigator and Air Commando in Vietnam when his aircraft was shot down by enemy fire on January 14, 1964. His body was not recovered, and he remains unaccounted for to this day. He left behind a wife and four daughters under the age of five years old. In addition to her advocacy for Gold Star families, Maureen is a mother of two.
