Rep. Wild Responds to New COVID-19 Cases in PA-07

March 13, 2020
Press Release

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) released the following statement on the newly reported cases of Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) in Pennsylvania’s Seventh District and in several counties across the state:

“As we continue to monitor the spread of COVID-19 within our community, I am focused first and foremost on the health and safety of families and individuals throughout Pennsylvania’s 7th District. To fight the spread of misinformation, I am working with state and local leaders to provide the most concise and accurate updates possible.

Capitol and District Offices

In accordance with the guidance of the Sergeant at Arms, the Capitol Complex, including our D.C. office in 1607 Longworth, will be operating under limited access until April 1, and only be open to Members, staff, and official business visitors. All of our offices, both in PA-07 and in D.C., will not be scheduling or conducting in-person meetings and will reschedule existing meetings as teleconferences or at later dates. All staff are approved to telework should they choose to do so.

Legislation

As is always my top priority, we will continue to be available and responsive to the people of the Greater Lehigh Valley. In addition to the $8.3 billion emergency spending package to combat this public health emergency already passed by the House and signed into law, we will continue working to alleviate the strain this emergency has placed on our health system and economy.

Elections and Census

In the upcoming primary election on April 28, I urge constituents to apply for a mail-in ballot at www.votespa.com to ensure participation. The impending Census collection remains critical for the allocation of federal funding and should be filled out and returned when received.

Resources

Above all, this moment demands a calm and evidence-based response. We must put aside the partisan news coverage of this crisis and work to get information directly from the source. My website has a COVID-19 information section that we are updating hourly:https://wild.house.gov/coronavirus-resource-page.

“I will continue to provide updates as they hit my inbox. Our community is resilient and strong and I know that we will support each other through this difficult time.”
