Rep. Wild Statement on Anniversary of 9/11
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) issued the following statement on the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York City:
"This evening, two beams of light will rise towards the heavens from the same ground in lower Manhattan where the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center once stood.
"After the four hijacked planes crashed on September 11th, our nation—much like those brilliant beams of light—stood upright and resilient together in the face of darkness. The time called for unyielding compassion, community, and service so we embraced our first responders, thanked our men and women in uniform for their service, and lined up to give blood, volunteer our time, and even our lives to defend our country. We joined hands to stand and face our threats as one.
"Every American lost something that day but I will forever hold a special place in my heart for the 3,000 people who lost their lives that day, including people from home in the greater Lehigh Valley, for the families who will never be the same, and for the people whose health still suffers at the hand of this attack. At 8:46 this morning, we honored those loved ones in Congress with a moment of silence and remembrance. Please know that although many of these patriots are no longer with us, they are part of an enduring spirit within the United States that will never be destroyed, especially by terror and hate."
