WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) voted to pass the American Rescue Plan, a $1.9 trillion dollar recovery package to deliver urgently needed relief to the American people in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic crisis.

“There’s nothing more important than beating this pandemic and getting America back on track,” Wild said. “The passage of this COVID relief package is a critical part of our national recovery effort. Accelerating a national vaccine distribution program to put more shots in the arms of Americans and providing local health centers with the resources they need to distribute vaccines as efficiently as possible. Scaling up testing and tracing programs so communities have the best information possible to slow the spread of the virus. Sending direct payments to Americans, completing the $2,000 in total assistance after the $600 down payment in December. Preventing kids from going hungry and getting PPE into the hands of frontline workers. Investing in our communities so we are able to quickly and safely reopen schools and get students back in the classroom.”

“The bill also includes $140 million in mental health funding for health care workers and first responders that I fought for and secured.”

“I hear every day from families across the Lehigh Valley about the devastation coronavirus has caused and the urgent need to pass comprehensive relief to help workers and small businesses stay afloat. Communities like mine have struggled for the last year through uncertainty and can’t afford to wait any longer.”

“I’m proud to have joined with my colleagues to pass this legislation and urge the Senate to join us in delivering for the American people.”
