Representative Susan Wild Statement on Passage of 2018 Farm Bill
Washington D.C.—Representative Susan Wild (PA-15) issued the following statement after voting for the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018:
“This bill will provide needed support for Pennsylvania farmers and working families. It maintains critical funding for SNAP and other nutritional programs vital to many families in our district. In addition, it provides increased certainty for farmers who have experienced tumultuous trade conditions under this administration. It was also passed through bipartisan compromise, which I hope can be a model for how we do business in the next Congress.
The package that passed today includes funding for critical nutrition assistance programs that many in our district rely on. It also provides protections for farmland, and protection to help offset some of the financial risks farmers face. In addition, we were able to secure authorized funds to combat the opioid epidemic, provide support for struggling rural hospitals, and for new broadband infrastructure, all of which will greatly benefit the 15th district.”
