Statement from Rep. Wild on Deal to Lower Drug Prices

November 4, 2021

"I am glad to see progress be made to help lower costs for seniors and families across the country, and this deal has my support and my vote. For too long, the high cost of prescription drugs has cost Americans billions at the pharmacy counter, leaving some patients to ration their medication or skip doses all together so they can still put food on the table. This broken system begins to end today. Allowing Medicare to negotiate down the price of some prescription drugs, limit Big Pharma's price hikes, bring down the soaring cost of insulin, and reduce out-of-pocket costs for seniors are critical first steps, but this battle is far from over. We owe it to the American people to lower the cost of all prescription drugs, to build a future where no family is bankrupted by the prohibitive cost of prescription drugs, and deliver for the American taxpayers the cost savings they deserve."
