Wild also Included an Amendment to Add Suicide Prevention to Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Services
Today, U.S. Representative Susan Wild’s (PA-07) bill, H.R. 4334, the Dignity in Aging Act, passed unanimously in the House Committee on Education and Labor. This bipartisan proposal reauthorizes the Older Americans Act (OAA) and increases funding for vital programs that help seniors live independently and with dignity. Wild also included an amendment to add “screening for suicide risk” to the definition of “disease prevention and health promotion services,” which also passed unanimously.

The SPARK Act would make children in kinship care eligible for free school meal program
Today, U.S. Representatives Susan Wild (D-PA), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Debbie Dingell (D-MI), David Trone (D-MD), and Don Bacon (R-NE) introduced the Schools Preventing Hunger in At-Risk Kids (SPARK) Act, bipartisan legislation which would extend the free school meals program to the 400,000 children living with grandparents or in other arrangements – known as kinship care - who are not currently eligible.

This morning, U.S. Representative Susan Wild (PA-07), a member of the House Pro-Choice Caucus, held a press conference at the Allentown Medical Center with Planned Parenthood Keystone to discuss how the new gag rule enacted by the Administration has forced Planned Parenthood and other providers out of Title X and how it will prohibit women and families in PA-07 from accessing critical health services, including basic reproductive health care, cancer screenings, and contraception.

Today, U.S. Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) held a press conference with the Pennsylvania Health Access Network announcing her support for their principles for lowering the costs of prescription drugs in the Greater Lehigh Valley. A recent poll of healthcare affordability burdens in Pennsylvania indicated that drug prices are harming adults in Pennsylvania. In response, the Pennsylvania Health Access Network formed the Pennsylvania Coalition for Fair Drug Pricing, endorsed by Wild.

This morning, U.S. Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) held a press conference with Protect Our Care as part of their “Health Care Emergency Tour” to call attention to the skyrocketing price of prescription drugs in the Lehigh Valley and the threat posed to Pennsylvanian’s health care by Texas v. United States, the lawsuit to overturn the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Joined by health care advocates from her district and local elected officials, Wild discussed her agenda to improve health care and lower costs for all American families.

Today, U.S. Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) joined 124 Members of the House of Representatives in sending a letter to Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alexander Azar asking him to withdraw a proposed rule that would roll back key provisions of the Health Care Rights Law, Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The proposed rule would embolden widespread discrimination in health care, allowing insurance companies, hospitals, doctors, nurses, and other health care providers and entities to deny patients care because of who they are, what language they speak, their sexual orientation or gender identity, or because they are seeking reproductive care.
