May 12, 2021

Washington, D.C. – On Tuesday night, Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) paid tribute to the life of Ramon Ramirez, a constituent who was shot and killed in Upper Macungie Township on April 21 while filling up his truck at a Wawa. Mr. Ramirez was a father of three, and the shooting was determined to be yet another tragic act of senseless violence.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) introduced the Safe Interactions Act, new legislation to improve interactions between law enforcement officers and people with disabilities and mental health needs. The legislation aims to create safer communities and reduce violence towards people with disabilities by funding grants for new training programs for law enforcement officers. These grants will be used to create partnerships between non-profit disability organizations and law enforcement agencies to administer enhanced training programs for law enforcement officers about interactions with people with disabilities.

"I am extremely disturbed by the ongoing confrontations and violence in Jerusalem and Gaza, and I am monitoring the situation closely. The cycle of attacks and retaliation that has destroyed the lives of far too many civilians—Israelis and Palestinians—will never lead to a peaceful or secure region, for anyone.

Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) will host a virtual webinar about the Small Business Administration (SBA) Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) Program on Monday May 3rd from 6pm to 7pm. The RRF supports the restaurant industry by providing grant funding to those entities that have suffered significant pandemic-related revenue loss. Eligible establishments include businesses such as restaurants, bars, and other qualifying businesses where people assemble for the primary purpose of being served food or drink. Washington - Today, Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) is announcing two new members of her staff who come from fellowships focused on placing veterans and Gold Star families in congressional offices. Patrick Miller comes to the Wild office from HillVets and will serve in the D.C. office, and Maureen Caporaso is a Gold Star Family fellow, and will be based in Pennsylvania.

WASHINGTON –Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) cosponsored legislation this week to promote workers' long-term economic success and support U.S. economic recovery efforts amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Investing in American Workers Act of 2021 prioritizes workers in U.S. recovery efforts by creating a tax credit to incentivize employers to invest in training tied to recognized postsecondary credentials for lower- and moderate-income workers.

Ahead of President Joe Biden's speech to a joint session of Congress on Wednesday, Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) hosted a virtual press conference with her guest, Bethanie Shoemaker. Bethanie is an essential worker and a single mother of four who benefited from the American Rescue Plan through its increased child care funding, direct stimulus payment, and expansion of the child tax credit.
