WASHINGTON, D.C. – After House Republicans’ most recent unworkable, partisan attempt to fund the government through a continuing resolution went up in flames on the House floor this afternoon, Congresswoman Susan Wild spoke on the United States Capitol steps to emphasize—once again—that the only path to avoid a government shutdown is for Republicans and Democrats to work together and for House GOP leadership to bring up bipartisan funding bills for a vote.

Enhancing Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Through Campus Planning Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Susan Wild introduced the bipartisan Enhancing Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Through Campus Planning Act alongside Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-01). The bill would amend the Higher Education Act to promote positive mental health and suicide prevention on college campuses.

Congresswoman Wild participates in roundtable on child care access
September 7, 2023

EASTON, P.A. – Yesterday afternoon, Congresswoman Susan Wild visited Third Street Alliance for Women and Children for a ribbon cutting of three new preschool classrooms and a roundtable on improving access to high-quality, affordable child care. Third Street Alliance’s new classrooms will allow forty-four additional children whose families earn less than 300 percent of the federal poverty level to attend the high-quality early learning center in the upcoming 2023-24 school year. The transformation of the decommissioned pool at Third Street into classroom space was made possible by funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) that Congresswoman Wild helped pass into law.

ALLENTOWN, P.A. – Congresswoman Susan Wild announced this week federal investments from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development for several projects across PA-07. USDA’s Rural Energy for America (REAP) program provides support to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvements, to invest in American energy independence and lower costs.

ALLENTOWN, P.A. – This morning, Congresswoman Susan Wild and health care advocates highlighted how Pennsylvania seniors will save money on their prescription medication as Medicare takes the first steps towards negotiating for fair drug prices – thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act that Congresswoman Wild worked to pass into law. The initial list of medications eligible for negotiation includes drugs that are taken by millions of older Americans and that cost Medicare billions of dollars per year.
